The Long Wait is Over: Monster Menu Has Arrived!
Dear foodie adventurers,
First, let me apologize for the radio silence these past few months. I know many of you have been wondering where I’ve disappeared to, and whether my creative cauldron had run dry. Rest assured, it was quite the opposite! I’ve been elbow-deep in game design, playtesting, revising, and polishing what I believe is my most flavorful creation yet: Monster Menu: A Solo Culinary Hunting RPG.
That’s right! Monster Menu is finally complete and ready for consumption. This solo journaling RPG lets you step into the shoes (or chef’s clogs) of a wandering Monster Chef who hunts fantastical creatures not for glory or safety, but for the perfect ingredients to create street food that will delight and surprise your customers.
What’s in the Box?
Monster Menu offers a complete solo RPG experience where you:
- Create your unique Monster Chef and customize your Food Cart
- Track down bizarre and dangerous creatures across fantasy landscapes
- Harvest the choicest ingredients from your successful hunts
- Cook up incredible dishes with your monstrous bounty
- Sell your culinary creations and build your reputation
- Upgrade your gear and skills as you journey toward culinary legend
The gameplay loop is elegant yet satisfying—find a rumor, hunt your prey, harvest the best bits, cook them up, sell your dishes, and use your earnings to improve your craft. All while journaling your Chef’s adventures, triumphs, and occasional kitchen disasters.
The Digital Companion App
I’m also excited to announce that I’m working on a companion web app for Monster Menu! This digital tool will help streamline your monster hunting adventures, allowing you to:
- Track your character stats and inventory
- Roll dice and automatically calculate results
- Manage your ingredients and dishes
- Keep your adventure journal all in one place
The app is still in development, but it’s coming along nicely. As both the game designer and the app developer, I’m making sure the digital experience enhances rather than replaces the core pen-and-paper experience.
When Can You Feast?
Monster Menu is available right now in digital format, with print options as well. The companion app will be released in stages, with the basic character tracker available first, followed by more advanced features.
Thank you all for your patience during this long creative process. Your enthusiasm and support kept me going through countless revisions and playtests. I can’t wait to hear stories about your Monster Chefs and their signature dishes!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to get back to coding the app. I’ve got a stack of feature requests and a pan full of Basilisk bacon that’s not going to fry itself!
Happy hunting and bon appétit!
